Foo lashes out at DAP over criticism against BKSS

-

KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth secretary-general Milton Foo calls on Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak to stop criticising the state government’s assistance plans for its own political agenda.

“It is deeply regrettable that DAP has not been constructive and they condemn each and every assistance plan that the state government has put forward. We need to strike a balance between practicability and infeasibility.

“This is not the time for politicking but DAP has been doing so since day one of Movement Control Order (MCO) notwithstanding the Sarawak government has committed to help our fellow Sarawakians,” Foo said in a statement.

DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen said on Thursday that the state government’s Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 7.0 package’s one-off RM10,000 financial aid to registered businesses in the state was too little.

He also described the aid as a one-size-fits-all.

Foo said the newly announced financial aid under BKSS 7.0 will be given out to all small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sarawak automatically without the need for application.

This, he added, showed that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government was not only a caring government but also implemented the sharing of wealth to assist the people in difficult times.

With the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, Foo said the state government is trying by all means to cover and help as many groups of people in diversity. adding that it is willing to be consultative and open-minded on recommendations from various quarters.

“That’s why Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg took into consideration suggestions and recommendations from various associations, including Hua Zong, Chinese Chambers of Commerce, Malay Chambers of Commerce and Dayak Commerce Chambers.

“What the Sarawak Government intends to do is to ensure the implementation of good policies that can directly benefit the people,” he added.

He then called on Chong to stop playing the blame game as it did not benefit the people.
