Sarawak’s Team Thanks national Dota 2 champions
They have managed to prove that Sarawak is the best team in Malaysia in the Dota 2 category.

KUCHING: Team Thanks have done Sarawak proud when they edged Selangor 3-2 in the final to win the Dota 2 title of the Malaysia Esports League 2021 (MEL21) Nationals yesterday.
The team is made up of five Kuchingites – 21-year-old skipper Nelson Chin Kuok Chiat, Benedict Chin Kuok Hong, 26, Nicholas Chin Kuok Chun, 18, Raymond Then Wan Jia, 26, and Low Kin Siong, 23.
They were rewarded with RM20,000 for their efforts.
Perak’s Sitiawan Tiger were third and all team from 13 states, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya have given their best in the championship.
Team Thanks were formed about a month ago and all members are from Kuching.
“We have gained a lot of valuable experience by competing in this league for the first time,” said team captain Nelson Chin Kuok Chiat, who is also the member of Sukma Johor Shadow Team for the DOTA 2 category.
A delighted Sarawak Esports Association (SESA) president Afiq Fadhli Narawi was very happy with the performance of the Sarawak team.
“We are at SESA feel very proud and excited to see the abilities and capabilities of Team Thanks because they have managed to prove that Sarawak is the best team in Malaysia in the Dota 2 category. “Well done and I would like to congratulate Team Thanks team members as well SESA deputy president Eugene Lai and treasurer Darren Kueh for managing this team and leading them to victory,” he said.
“We would also like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak and the Sarawak Sports Corporation for providing solid support in the development of esports in Sarawak,” added Afiq. Meanwhile, three other teams representing Sarawak in the nationals are Dejavu New Era, who will be competing in the PUBG Mobile, FVP_ Cruyffism in FIFA21 and Bountee Esports in the Mobile Legend Bang Bang.
The teams, including Team Thanks, are the state level champions in their respective categories.
MEL21, organised by ESI in collaboration with Esukan.gg and Technicier, is a premier state and national league for the amateur and semi-professional gamers in the country.
