Miri Hospital: Follow rules, take care of facilities at PKRCs

-

MIRI: The management of Miri Hospital is seeking full cooperation from individuals who are being placed at Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) to follow the rules and take care of facilities at the centre.

Miri Hospital, in a statement yesterday, said damage of facilities at the centre due to vandalism would affect the health care services provided by the health workers and thus, causing inconveniences to the other patients. The hospital said this in response to a news report in a local Chinese news daily yesterday on patient safety issue following the breakdown of the lift at PKRC Pujut.

Based on the hospital report, the lift breakdown at PKRC Pujut occurred at 11.45am on Sept 18.

Repair and maintenance work on the lift started at 12.10pm and the lift was back in operation about 6.40pm on the same day.

Miri Hospital said the cause of the lift breakdown was vandalism caused by an irresponsible patient who had been discharged from the centre.

Two police reports were lodged on the same day the lift was damaged. As the incident took place during lunch time, the staff at the centre had to use staircase to distribute food to the patients.

With only four staff on duty each shift, the lift breakdown that day had caused delay in the process of discharging patients.

“We are very committed when it comes to patients’ safety under our care. Therefore, we seek cooperation from the public to always abide by the rules and maintain public facilities for the welfare of all parties.

“The damage to facilities due to human misconduct not only disrupts the work process of the health workers, but also makes it difficult for other patients as well.”

PKRC Pujut is a six-storey building equipped with a new lift complete with Fire Certificate (FC) issued by the Fire and Rescue Department as a guarantee of building safety to operate.
