CM declares completion of Phase 1 works on Miri divisional mosque
MIRI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at an event marking the completion of the first phase of upgrading works on Masjid At-Taqwa Miri, at Jalan Merpati here yesterday.
The RM9 million project covered the renovation over the divisional mosque’s courtyard, its ‘kubah’ (dome), toilets and some building works.
According to mosque committee chairman Hamzah Dadu, the structure was built in 1985, while Phase 1 of the upgrading project kicked off in 2018 and reached completion in September last year.

At the event yesterday, Abang Johari struck the ‘bedok’ (drum placed in Muslim house of worship to indicate the prayer’s time) to mark the ceremony, witnessed by a limited number of attendees in compliance with the SOP.
