Adolescent students in 51 schools to be vaccinated under PICK in Miri
MIRI: A total of 51 schools in Miri district will be involved in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) for students aged 12 to 15 years.
Minister in charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin in a statement said the programme will cover 33 primary schools and 18 secondary schools in Miri district, from September 25 until 29.
“These schools are under Miri District Education Office and their students will receive their Covid-19 vaccines at two public vaccination centres (PPV) in Miri, namely PPV Eastwood Valley Hall and PPV Curtin University Hall.”
In view of that, Lee, who is also the Transport Minister, reminded parents to take note of their children’s vaccination schedule given by their schools.
Besides accompanying their children, parents, he added, must also bring along vaccination consent form to the appointed PPV.
For adolescent school dropouts, he said they are allowed to go for walk-in vaccination at any of the PPVs in Miri district.
In this respect, he urged community leaders to identify school dropouts in their respective areas and submit their names on a form which had been given earlier by the District Office for vaccination purpose.
Earlier, he led the MDDMC team to PPV Eastwood Valley Hall and PPV Curtin University Hall to inspect the progress of the PICK programme for teenagers aged 12 to 15 years.
Joining him for the visit were Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting, acting Miri Deputy Resident Rose Edward Tarang, Miri health officer Dr P. Raviwharmman Packierisamy, Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong and Miri Division Health Office’s Family Health Department section head Dr Noor Izni Mohamed Shapie.
In general, he was satisfied with the implementation of the PICK programme at the two public PPVs.
