-

KUCHING: Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep has taken to task the contractor involved in works at sections of Bau-Lundu road for poor workmanship which had caused great inconveniences to road users.

He said the latest incident affecting road users there happened yesterday morning when an unusual traffic jam happened a er a lorry got stuck at Mile 2 Bau-Lundu Road where repair works for a road culvert are being carried out.

He revealed this incident had caused an unusual long traffic jam yesterday morning, forcing motorists to reroute to alternative lanes, especially those heading to Bau town which is just two miles away from the affected road section.

He also said he had received complaints from road users on the incident, as well as from concerned villagers who were worried upon seeing many vehicles manoeuvring their village roads as alternative route.

“This is the result of bad coordination and poor quality (of work). The contractor has taken too long to complete a single reinforced concrete culvert, making things worse for the public and road users,

“This is totally irresponsible (of them by) ignoring public safety and convenience,” said Henry.

He also said he had informed this incident to the State Public Works Department (JKR) director and conveyed his disappointment over the ma er and the slow progress of repair works by the contractor.

Meanwhile, a Facebook run by Henry’s service centre (Dato Henry Jinep’s Admin Page at N2 Tasik Biru) advised those using this road to use other alternative routes to reach their respective destinations.

It added the affected section was still impassable as at 11am yesterday and efforts to remove the stuck lorry were still being carried out.
