MPC DG: Productivity to grow 30 pct by 2030 through use of technology

-

KUCHING: The adoption and use of technology in various economic sectors is expected to contribute to 30 per cent uplift in productivity by 2030, said Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) directorgeneral Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman.

Speaking at the launching of MyReskill IoT Programme at a hotel here yesterday, Abdul Latif believes MyReskill IoT programme can contribute to better productivity through higher adoption of technology among industry players.

He added that MyReskill IoT programme will encourage and support the upskilling and reskilling of the current workforce to meet the current and future needs of the industry.

It is also vital for boosting productivity at enterprise, sectoral and national levels as technological adoption requires more high-skilled talent to be in the labour market, he said.

Themed ‘Boosting Productivity through Digitalisation’, the programme will take participants through a five half-day virtual workshop where they will get the opportunity to learn IoT (Internet of Things) and advanced technical knowledge.

Subsequently, participants will have one week to develop proof-of-concept projects for their organisations with support from MPC, technology centres and technology partners.

Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions executive director Hallman Sabri said the programme serves as an invitation to businesses to take that all-important first step to embrace the IoT as a key enabler, specifically in the transformation of existing businesses, and exploration of new frontiers in today’s ever vibrant economic landscape.

“Indeed, through the MyReskill IoT Programme, participating businesses will take a great leap forward to enhance their strategic initiatives, especially in boosting productivity and managing costs.”

He added that Sarawak Skills will work closely with MPC to reach out to businesses in Sarawak, and this would facilitate the development of a skilled and competent workforce.

Businesses which wish to participate can contact eepn@mpc.gov.my and visit https://wayup.my/retamyreskilliot/ for further details about the programme.
