IGP: @edisi_siasatmy reports ‘mostly fabricated’
KUALA LUMPUR: Most of the reports on alleged abuse of power, malpractice and corruption carried by the @ edisi_siasatmy Twitter account were fabricated articles, said Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
He said the social media account was created to sensationalise issues by publishing news about alleged irregularities involving government agencies.
Thirteen investigation papers had been opened involving the Twitter account and police were trying to identify those behind it, he told reporters after attending the launch of the 2021 Commercial Crime Prevention Campaign (Online Crime) here yesterday.
Recent allegations by the Twitter account on misconduct by some senior police officers and the top management of the anti-graft agency protecting criminal syndicates had gone viral on social media.
Eleven police reports had been lodged by individuals implicated in the articles carried on the Twitter account.
Acryl Sani said the allegations involving the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had been handed over to the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) for verification.
In another development, Acryl Sani said PDRM would ensure that the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the Melaka state election was complied with by all parties.
“Tonight, God willing, I will go to the Melaka contingent police headquarters for a briefing by the state police chief to ensure that the SOP and police work procedure are implemented throughout the election period,” he added.
Nominations for the Melaka polls were held yesterday and polling is set for Nov 20. — Bernama
