Betong records five of 13 Covid deaths from Oct 21 to Nov 8

KUCHING: Five out of 13 Covid19 deaths in Sarawak between Oct 21 and Nov 8 were recorded in Betong Hospital, revealed the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

In its daily Covid update yesterday, SDMC said on Oct 21, one death at Betong Hospital involved a 49-year-old woman with hypertensi­on.

This was followed the next day by a 71-year-old man who was brought in dead (BID) to the hospital. He had hypertensi­on and diabetes.

“On Oct 25, there were two BID cases brought to the same hospital. One was a man aged 85 with a history of dyslipidae­mia and heart disease, while the other was a woman aged 92 with hypertensi­on.

“On Oct 27, another BID case brought to Betong Hospital was an 84-year-old man. He had no known medical history,” the committee said.

The other Covid fatalities involved an 89-year-old woman with a history of hypertensi­on, diabetes and dyslipidae­mia, who died at Miri Hospital on Nov 5.

Three deaths were recorded Nov 6 – a woman aged 91 who was BID to Saratok Hospital; a 73-year-old man at Miri Hospital; and a woman, 85, at Bau Hospital. All three had comorbidit­ies such as hypertensi­on and diabetes.

On Nov 7, two deaths were recorded in Miri Hospital, both men. One was aged 85 with hypertensi­on, dyslipidae­mia and chronic obstructiv­e lung disease, while the other, aged 98, had hypertensi­on and diabetes.

Nov 8 saw fatalities recorded at Sibu Hospital involving a 68year-old woman with no known medical history; and at Bau Hospital, a man aged 83 who had hypertensi­on, diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
