Covid-19: Kuching remains on top with 113 out of 409 new cases

SIBU: Kuching remained the only district recording threedigit Covid-19 cases with 113 out of a total of 409 new cases reported statewide yesterday, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC in its daily update on the pandemic said seven districts recorded two-digit cases with Miri at 76, Sibu (55), Bintulu (26), Lawas (22), Serian (20), Tanjung Manis (15) and Betong (12).

Districts with single-digit cases were Limbang and Lundu with nine each, Samarahan (8), Bau (7), Kapit, Song and Julau (five each), Mukah, Sarikei and Asajaya (three each), Kanowit, Subis and Tatau (two each), and one case each in Pusa, Simunjan, Belaga, Marudi, Selangau, Kabong and Bukit Mabong.

Meanwhile, seven Covid-19 deaths were reported in the state between Oct 25 and Nov 10, with three of them broughtin dead (BID) cases.

Two of the BIDs were registered in Betong involving women aged 85 and 51. Their bodies were brought to Betong Hospital on Oct 25 and 28, respective­ly. The 85-year-old had hypertensi­on and diabetes while the 51-year-old victim had diabetes, chronic kidney disease and heart disease.

The other BID case was registered in Sri Aman involving a 63-year-old woman with hypertensi­on, diabetes and dyslipidem­ia. Her body was brought to Sri Aman Hospital on Nov 7. A 50-year-old man from Kuching with hypertensi­on and obesity died in Bau Hospital on Nov 8.

On Nov 9, two fatalities in Miri involved a 70-year-old woman who had hypertensi­on and an 88-year-old man with hypertensi­on, diabetes and heart disease.

On Nov 10, a 63-year-old woman from Sarikei with hypertensi­on, autoimmune disease and dyslipidae­mia died in Sarikei Hospital. SDMC also announced the end of two Covid clusters, namely the Opar Cluster in Bau and the Mapu Cluster in Tebedu, after they did not record any new case in the past 28 days. Sarawak currently has 16 active Covid clusters.

SDMC also revealed that police issued 11 compounds in Kuching and one in Padawan for standard operating procedure (SOP) violations.

Seven of the compounds were for failing to scan MySejahter­a or registerin­g their particular­s before entering a premises, three for not wearing a face mask, and two for failing to provide a logbook for customers’ details.
