Fire partially destroys Lawas secondary school lab
SIBU: An old laboratory at SMK Trusan in Lawas was about 30 per cent destroyed in a fire Thursday afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said 10 firefighters were deployed from its Lawas station to the school after a distress call was received around 4.45pm.
“The operation commander reported that the laboratory, measuring 30 feet by 60 feet, was already 30 per cent destroyed when they arrived at the scene.
“Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control at 5.19pm,” Bomba said.
There were no injuries reported and the operation was wrapped up at 5.33pm, it added.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses have yet to be determined.
