Note of soil erosion at Jalan Suhaili-Airport junction
KAPIT: A soil erosion occurred about 100 meters from the Jalan Suhaili-Airport junction yesterday night, caused by loose soil a er a recent heavy rainfall.
A resident, Ling Hang Kee, whose house sits on the slope about 50 meters above the site, is naturally very concerned
“The soil erosion started about three month ago, and has worsened, affecting a bigger area this time.
“If nothing is done it may lead to a major disaster since the slope is steep.
“I have appealed to the authority concerned to look into the ma er before things get worse. I suggest a retention wall be built to protect the slope from further erosion,” he said.
A check at the scene yesterday found that the fallen soil has buried a section of the water mains and blocked the storm drain which would obstruct the free flow of water.
