MSU Virtual Career Fair 2021
MANAGEMENT and Science University (MSU) held a virtual edition of its Career Fair recently.
The annual event went live on MSUtv end September, in view of the Covid restrictions still in place.
MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid spoke about talent management being essential to talent survival. Adaptability and learnability are musthave criteria, he said, to move beyond the pandemic and survive the current climate.
To see opportunities where others see barriers is key to career flexibility and personal as well as professional growth.
MSU’s JobMatch Portal is run by the University’s Continuing and Extended Education Centre (CEdEC), who also facilitates upskilling and reskilling.
CEdEC’s short courses, offered as evening or weekend classes, enable access to lifelong learning through non-conventional deliveries; in Flexible (FL), Blended (BL), FullTime-Weekend (FTW), and Virtual Learning (VL) modes.
CEdEC also provides APEL or Accreditation by Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), and MicroCredential – a competency-based recognition that allow exemptions for the purpose of entry into academic programmes at MSU.
Micro-Credentials comprise industry’s in-demand courses that not only serve as tasters into further, more comprehensive education in preferred areas of study, but also provide flexible easy learning assessments that accumulate into said exemptions.
Areas of study in which to earn a Micro-Credential include Music, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Fashion and Beauty, Account and Finance, Business and Marketing, Media Science and Graphic, Medical and Health Sciences, Language and Communication, Education and Social Sciences, and Information Science and Technology.
At another end is the Professional Diploma; with courses in Blockchain, Emerging Tech, Fintech, Industrial IOT, Early Childhood Special Needs Education, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics.
MSU’s more than 1,700 partners of industry contribute to not only the University’s Malaysia #1 ranking in graduate employability but also support research, community engagement, sustainable development goals, and entrepreneurship activities. Over twenty Industry Awards are presented at every Convocation Ceremony of Management and Science University (MSU).
At the MSU Virtual Career Fair 2021, more than 50 that tuned in to the event presented over 200 vacancies across various sectors – hospitality and tourism, healthcare, manufacturing, media and telecommunication, food & beverages, and education.
Among them were alumni companies Alfalah HebatSdnBhd, Mios Gastronomy Group SdnBhd, and QBC Global SdnBhd, as well as WowshopSdnBhd, Goodyear Malaysia Berhad, Nando’s Chickenland Malaysia, Deloitte Consulting SdnBhd, ISACA Malaysia, Firefighter SdnBhd, Everly Hotel SdnBhd, Brainy Bunch SdnBhd, and Mega Fortris (M) Sdn Bhd.
