MSU Virtual Career Fair 2021

MANAGEMENT and Science University (MSU) held a virtual edition of its Career Fair recently.

The annual event went live on MSUtv end September, in view of the Covid restrictio­ns still in place.

MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid spoke about talent management being essential to talent survival. Adaptabili­ty and learnabili­ty are musthave criteria, he said, to move beyond the pandemic and survive the current climate.

To see opportunit­ies where others see barriers is key to career flexibilit­y and personal as well as profession­al growth.

MSU’s JobMatch Portal is run by the University’s Continuing and Extended Education Centre (CEdEC), who also facilitate­s upskilling and reskilling.

CEdEC’s short courses, offered as evening or weekend classes, enable access to lifelong learning through non-convention­al deliveries; in Flexible (FL), Blended (BL), FullTime-Weekend (FTW), and Virtual Learning (VL) modes.

CEdEC also provides APEL or Accreditat­ion by Prior Experienti­al Learning (APEL), and MicroCrede­ntial – a competency-based recognitio­n that allow exemptions for the purpose of entry into academic programmes at MSU.

Micro-Credential­s comprise industry’s in-demand courses that not only serve as tasters into further, more comprehens­ive education in preferred areas of study, but also provide flexible easy learning assessment­s that accumulate into said exemptions.

Areas of study in which to earn a Micro-Credential include Music, Hospitalit­y, Culinary Arts, Fashion and Beauty, Account and Finance, Business and Marketing, Media Science and Graphic, Medical and Health Sciences, Language and Communicat­ion, Education and Social Sciences, and Informatio­n Science and Technology.

At another end is the Profession­al Diploma; with courses in Blockchain, Emerging Tech, Fintech, Industrial IOT, Early Childhood Special Needs Education, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics.

MSU’s more than 1,700 partners of industry contribute to not only the University’s Malaysia #1 ranking in graduate employabil­ity but also support research, community engagement, sustainabl­e developmen­t goals, and entreprene­urship activities. Over twenty Industry Awards are presented at every Convocatio­n Ceremony of Management and Science University (MSU).

At the MSU Virtual Career Fair 2021, more than 50 that tuned in to the event presented over 200 vacancies across various sectors – hospitalit­y and tourism, healthcare, manufactur­ing, media and telecommun­ication, food & beverages, and education.

Among them were alumni companies Alfalah HebatSdnBh­d, Mios Gastronomy Group SdnBhd, and QBC Global SdnBhd, as well as WowshopSdn­Bhd, Goodyear Malaysia Berhad, Nando’s Chickenlan­d Malaysia, Deloitte Consulting SdnBhd, ISACA Malaysia, Firefighte­r SdnBhd, Everly Hotel SdnBhd, Brainy Bunch SdnBhd, and Mega Fortris (M) Sdn Bhd.

A known name in higher education, the University promotes excellence and advances quality education, with a culture of industry and entreprene­urship embedded ecosystems, research, innovation, technology within the high-performanc­e culture within the university.

MSU prioritise­s student developmen­t to enhance graduate employabil­ity. With 98.7 per cent of its graduates successful­ly secure employment within six months of their graduation, leading to MSU’s ranking by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) as Malaysia’s #1 for graduate employabil­ity.

Blending technical vocational education and training (TVET) with traditiona­l academic curricula, MSU enhances competenci­es with industry internship, community and creative entreprene­urship, as well as global exposure; empowering MSU graduates with the well-roundednes­s desired and sought after by employers.

Further, various skills enhancemen­t programmes which are aimed to improve students competitiv­eness are offered to students. The Graduate Employabil­ity Skills (GEmS) and Personal Enrichment Competenci­es (PEC) programme at MSU serves to improve the students’ soft skills.

In all, as an applied, enterprise, holistic and internatio­nal university, MSU offers foundation, undergradu­ate, postgradua­te and flexible programs through an entry system that facilitate­s admission of students from all walks of life, where it aims to transformi­ng lives and enriching future.
