Lee: 80.12 pct in Miri Division receive Pfizer booster dose

MIRI: A total of 63,059 individual­s in Miri Division have received the PfizerBioN­Tech vaccine booster dose, revealed Miri Division Disaster Management Commi ee (MDDMC).

From the number, Miri District administer­ed 49,761 doses, Marudi District (1,754 doses), Subis District (6,706 doses), Beluru District (2,673 doses) and Telang Usan District (2,165 doses).

Minister in-charge of MDDMC Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said these included senior citizens, individual­s with comorbidit­ies and members of the public.

“By percentage, about 80.12 per cent of the total population in Miri Division have received the vaccine booster or third dose,” he added.

Lee visited two public vaccinatio­n centres here, PPV Eastwood Valley and PPV Curtin University yesterday on their last day of operation.

“Beginning Monday (Nov 15), all public PPVs – PPV Eastwood Valley, PPV Curtin University, PPV Bekenu Community Hall, PPV Beluru Community Hall, PPV Sepupok Community Hall, PPV Marudi Civic Centre and PPV Dewan Terbuka Long Lama, will be closed.

“However, the immunisati­on programme will continue at specific government hospital, clinics and private medical facilities,” said Lee.

Lee who is also Minister of Transport urged those who have yet to receive their booster dose to contact any health clinic with their particular­s.

Accompanyi­ng Lee during the visit to the PPVs were Miri Division health officer Dr P Raviwharmm­an Packierisa­my; Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong; acting deputy Miri Resident Rose Edward Tarang; and Miri Division health officer public health medical specialist Dr Noor Izni Mohamed Shapie.

Lee thanked all medical staff and volunteers at the vaccinatio­n centres for carrying out the immunisati­on programme well.
