Get RM200 e-Rebate for energy efficient air conditioner, refrigerator purchases until Dec
KUCHING: Malaysians with registered domestic accounts under Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), or NUR Power Sdn Bhd still have the opportunity to redeem e-Rebates worth RM200 until December.
An allocation of RM30 million has been provided by the government through the provision of e-Rebates through the ‘Sustainability Achieved Via Energy Efficiency (SAVE) 2.0’ programme, which is expected to benefit 150,000 households.
SAVE 2.0 programme, which was launched in January, is an e-Rebate programme to any household that purchases selected air conditioner or energy efficient refrigerator labelled four or five stars by the Energy Commission (EC) in 2021.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources is the ministry responsible for monitoring the implementation of SAVE 2.0 and Sustainable Energy Development Authority of Malaysia (Seda) has been appointed as the implementing agency.
Through the message ‘Save Money, Save Energy, and Save the Environment’, the SAVE 2.0 programme is implemented with the objective of increasing the total number of four- and fivestar energy efficient electrical appliances as well as energy efficient appliances in the market.
The programme also aims to raise public awareness of buying energy efficient electrical appliances that will save electricity consumption, especially for domestic consumers.
SAVE 2.0 is expected to result in energy savings of RM22.26 million, equivalent to the amount of carbon that can be reduced through the uptake by 56,340 trees planted over a period of 10 years.
The e-rebate is available through online purchases on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, and PG Mall, as well as through electrical equipment retailers registered with Seda Malaysia.
Malaysians can check their eligibility for the RM200 e-rebate and the list of registered electrical equipment retailers on www. saveenergy.gov.my.
The RM200 e-Rebate application is on a first-come, first-served basis.
