GPS Youth teams throw all-out support to coalition’s pick for Lambir

-

MIRI: The Youth wings of the local branches of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties have pledged to work as a team in securing a win in Lambir in the upcoming 12th state election.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth executive committee member Mustaffa Yussof said he and his comrades from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) would render full support to the GPS candidate for Lambir.

“We believe that GPS can ensure political stability, improve the economy and bring development throughout Sarawak. Addition, the GPS team in Lambir has a good track record.

“Therefore, we, the Youth wings of all four GPS component parties, namely PBB, SUPP, PRS and PDP, in Lambir, are ready to face the upcoming 12th state election and declare our strong support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his leadership.

“We will work as one team to ensure victory for GPS in Lambir, and also in Bekenu, Piasau, Pujut and Senadin constituencies,” said Mustaffa, who is also Lambir PBB Youth chairman, in a joint statement issued yesterday.

Adding on, Lambir SUPP Youth chief Esther Wong expressed her hope for all eligible Sarawakians to come out and vote on polling day this Dec 18.

“The people should also keep in mind that they must not vote blindly, as their votes would determine the development for all sectors in the next five years,” she said.

Lambir PRS Youth representative Gemene Kelik concurred with Mustaffa and Wong, adding that despite Lambir being a PBB stronghold, he and his fellow GPS comrades would give their full support to the candidate picked by the coalition.

“We will support those who can continue the development drive in all areas across the Lambir constituency,” he added.

Lambir incumbent Ripin Lamat is from PBB. In the 2016 state polls, he won the seat with a vote majority of 4,907 over contenders Mohdak Ismail from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), and Arif Paijo from Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS).
