Those accusing GPS of doing nothing for Simanggang merely ‘dissatisfied folks’, says Harden
SRI AMAN: Those who have accused Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led government of doing nothing for Simanggang are ‘merely dissatisfied individuals who could not achieve their personal agenda’.
Assistant Minister of Welfare and Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is GPS chairman, a more progressive development had taken place in the constituency.
“The people are reminded to think wisely before choosing a candidate, who should be able to bring in development and who has direct relationship with the government,” said Harden, who is Simanggang incumbent, at the start of a ‘gotong-royong’ (work party) conducted by the Brayun Hulu Chinese Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), in collaboration with Sri Aman District Council recently.
Harden regarded retaining a GPS candidate in Simanggang as ‘very important’ to ensure that the constituency would not be left behind in terms of development.
“Political stability is essential in launching development. We have seen the unstable political scenario in Malaysia, where there have been three different people becoming prime minister in just within a few years.
“When the political situation is unstable, the people’s problems become ‘an ignored agenda’ and there are warring factions out to seize power and positions. Such a situation is not needed in Sarawak and to ensure this would not happen, the people should give a big win to GPS,” he said.
