KV Bintulu hosts virtual Borneo E-Innovation Competition 2021
BINTULU: Borneo E-Innovation Competition 2021 themed ‘Innovative Generation’ organised by Bintulu Vocational College (KV Bintulu) was held virtually Nov 25 on Google Meet platform.
Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee represented Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong at the closing ceremony.
KV Bintulu director Jamali Muhamad and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Excellent Management Sector senior chief assistant director Sarinah Mhd Sari also attended the virtual event.
“Individuals who successfully produce innovation have three things in them namely expertise, creative thinking and internal motivation.
“With technological advancement, we not only need to be smart in obtaining information to support the development of knowledge but wisdom to optimise the knowledge we have,” said Manyin in his text-of-speech read by Dr Annuar.
He added that the creativity of the participants in producing innovation had shown such understanding.
Meanwhile, Jamali in his speech said the competition aimed to develop application of science knowledge, mathematics and technology in problem solving.
“It also aims to raise awareness and increase interest among students about the benefits and greatness of science and technology in life,” he said and hoped the competition impact the participants positively.
The three categories competed were Technology, Non-Technology and Teaching and Learning Innovation.
In Technology Category, Trio Aces from Ipoh Vocational College comprising Ashtafania Asmadi, Mohamad Hidayat Munaward, and Nurul Najwa Atiqah Burhanuddin emerged as first place winner.
Second place went to Spark Tek Elektonik from Bau Pahat Vocational College while WTP KV Bintulu took third place.
A Camansi Cookies comprising Lee Swee Heng and Everson Liau Bisop from KV Bintulu won first place in Non-Technology Category while Jem SDF De’Apong from KV Betong and KVC Bakery and Pastry from KV Keningau placed second and third respectively.
In Teaching and Learning Innovation Category, the top three winners were KVC-English Team from KV Keningau comprising Ahmad Ahzarulzaman Ibrahim, Alvin Khaw Lakim Yew; LPK Tek Elektronik from KV Batu Pahat Johor and De’Paradigm from KV Bintulu.
All winners received ecertificates and cash prizes.
