MIRI: Parents should cooperate with the authorities, including school management, in facilitating their children to rejoin face-to-face learning sessions, should schools reopen for the new term next year.
In making this call, Lambir incumbent Ripin Lamat acknowledged that the Ministry of Education had allowed schoolchildren and teachers to be engaged in home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) since Covid19 was declared a pandemic in early 2020.
“Yes, we have been facing the pandemic for almost two years, but we must also not let the children miss out on their studies.
“Thus, I hope that parents could cooperate with the schools by sending their children to undergo face-to-face learning sessions next year,” he said in his speech prior to handing over SmartOne media player to SJKC Chung Hua Bakam, in a recent ceremony held the school’s multipurpose hall.
In his speech, Ripin also commended the Chinese primary school for providing its pupils the access to high-technology and comprehensive teaching tools, which were be er than those available in many of its counterparts in the urban areas.
“The pupils of this school should be grateful for having a headmistress who is very concerned about the education of children in this village area.
“Therefore, parents should also play a key role in their children’s education, which still stands as a viable means to change one’s destiny and raise the standard of living of a family.
“When the younger generation progresses, our country will also progress,” said Ripin.
Meanwhile, SJKC Chung Hua Bakam management board chairman Yong Hock Seng expressed his gratitude to Ripin for facilitating the assistance to the school throughout the la er’s term as assemblyman.
