UTeM 16th convocation ceremony to be held on Dec 9 -12
MELAKA: A er a year’s delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) will hold its 16th convocation ceremony from Dec 9 to 12.
Its deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation) and UTeM acting vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ghazali Omar said this year’s convocation will see 2,979 graduands for the year 2020 receiving their scrolls.
“As we need to comply with the standard operating procedures and instructions from the National Security Council (MKN), the Health Ministry and Higher Education Ministry, we are limiting the number of parents and students coming to the event,” he told a press conference to announce the convocation yesterday.
Also present were deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International) Prof Dr Zulkfilie Ibrahim, deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs) Datuk Dr Sabri Mohamad Sharif, assistant vice-chancellor (Industry and Community Network) Prof Dr Md Nazri Othman, and assistant vice-chancellor (Facilities Development and Management) Assoc Prof Mohd Rahimi Yusoff.
Ghazali however said parents who could not enter the main hall could still witness the ceremony which will be telecast live from the adjoining hall.
The convocation to be held through eight sessions will see a total of 2,254 graduands receiving their Bachelor’s degree, Diploma (512), Master’s degree (190), PhD (21) and Doctor of Engineering (2) in various technology and engineering-based fields.
Ghazali added that the Royal Education Award, Chancellor’s Prize, Vice Chancellor’s Prize, Industry Prize and Industry Special Prize will also be presented at the event. — Bernama
