Growing support from GPS for PDP’s Edwin to contest in Pakan

SIBU: Progressiv­e Democratic Party’s (PDP) potential candidate for Pakan, Edwin Bandang, has received more endorsemen­t from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties to be the coalition’s pick this coming state polls.

During a recent meet-thepeople function organised by representa­tives of local branches of GPS component parties at Rumah Jambai Danggat at Nunggang, Tuai Rumah Jambai said the spirit of togetherne­ss among the GPS component parties in supporting Edwin to be the candidate for Pakan is a true reflection of the their unity and commitment in winning the seat for GPS.

“Never have I came across such unity in GPS and this must be the first of its kind as all the GPS component parties in Pakan are willing to work together with one goal of ensuring the victory for Edwin,’ he said.

More than 200 people from GPS component parties PDP, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Parti Raykat Sarawak (PRS) attended the event.

Jambai reiterated that they will give their full blessings and hope Edwin will be nominated as the PDP/GPS candidate for Pakan.

“We have every confidence that Edwin will win the seat for GPS,” he added.

PDP councilor Barau Bandan in his brief remarks said he supported PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s recent statement that the seat belonged to the party.

“Now, we have picked a new face to stand in the election and we are confident of his (Edwin) victory,” he added.

PRS Pakan Women chief Fitz Patrick and PBB Pakan chairman Jimbun Radin, in their speech, also pledged to stick with PDP in Pakan and render their support for its candidate in the coming election.

Meanwhile, at a separate function, Tuai Rumah Luyoh Entalah and his team also gave their full blessings to Edwin to be nominated as the candidate for Pakan.
