Yap: A vote for me is a vote against racial chauvinism

-

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Kota Sentosa Wilfred Yap said a vote for him is a vote against racial chauvinism.

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) leader said the party started as a multiracial party and had gradually been cornered into a Chinese party when in fact its multiracial nature was apparent in its membership.

“We intend to return to our original mission that is ‘Justice for All’ and that will mean that our policies and missions will include all races regardless of creed and status. In our youth development agenda we pledged to create a job fair, incubator and better access to higher learning and this will be for all races and not just the Chinese,” he said in a statement.

Yap said they will deploy help wherever needed regardless of race and religion in their solutions for the Stampin resettlement scheme area.

He added: “It is our main policy that racist chauvinism be eradicated and we create an environment that is conducive for communal living that is colour blind and mutually respectful.”

He opined that no person should be judged solely because of race.

“DAP will not complain if a drain is clogged because they want the anger to fester and then capitalise on it as if it was the voters against the government and DAP was on the voters’ side.

“All this and more has been proven that DAP will have no following otherwise, they have made the Chinese electorate seem chauvinistic racists and this election cycle is an opportunity for us to reject this aspect of Malayan politics and embrace the Sarawak way,” he explained.

Yap said they were on board with the mission to eradicate the peninsular brand of politics where races were pitted against one another in order to keep power. He called upon voters to think back and ask yourselves if DAP had ever thanked anyone for anything.

“Has the DAP ever congratulated our heroes? Has DAP ever celebrated our heroes?

“The answer here is a resounding No. And this is the evidence that the party thrives on negatives like anger and hate, as such it is beneficial for them to be racist, it benefits them to be chauvinistic but the end result is isolationism and fractured society which will be prone to racial unrest,” he said.

Yap added that their mission is to wrest Kota Sentosa from DAP to stop this decline and bring back the Sarawakian Chinese who like all other Sarawakians look at each other as one and care for each other as one.
