DAP claims SUPP manifesto copied ideas from DAP proposals

-

SIBU: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Pelawan candidate, David Wong, claims some of the plans proposed by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates in Sibu are ideas from their proposal presented in the State Legislative Assembly and local authorities.

He said the link road from Jalan Wong King Huo to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman was actually DAP’s ideas that had been submitted and debated at the State Legislative Assembly in 2015.

However, when it was presented, he said none of the members of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) supported the idea to resolve the struggle for Sibu to have a better road link at the area.

“We have a video recording how we fought and now they are just using that. Do not copy the ideas as if this is your ideas, this is not honest,” he told a press conference at DAP Pelawan office Friday.

DAP candidate for Bukit Assek constituency Irene Chang who was also at the press conference, said she could verify this fact as they had gone through this plan with the Public Work Department.

The link road was listed in the GPS candidate for Bukit Assek constituency Joseph Chieng’s manifesto.

Wong added that GPS candidate for Pelawan Michael Tiang also used some of the DAP plans in his manifesto such as building a park within the Pelawan community.

“The park within the community; I had submitted the letter to Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman last year and now he is talking about this. This is another copycat,” he said.

He also said that Tiang’s plan to reduce the traffic congestion was also part of DAP’s ideas that had been submitted in 2015.

Wong said that Tiang’s manifesto showed that the local government, state government and federal government have failed in their duty to the people in Pelawan.

“This beautification of parks, this falls under the local council and youth do not have enough opportunity; this shows that the state government has failed the people,” he said.
