Petronas introduces Segar@Mesra fresh local products to Sarawak

-

SIBU: Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) has initiated its expansion of Segar@Mesra to Sarawak with four Petronas stations (PS) during the pilot phase.

Segar@Mesra is offering two local products, namely Ayam Permata products made by Comerich Sdn Bhd and fish by Sarawak Fishermen Association (Penesa) at PS Lanang Barat and PS Lanang 2 in Sibu as well as PS Matang Jaya and PS Astana in Kuching, with six more stations to be added.

“This will give consumers the opportunity to get fresh quality food items at reasonable prices in selected stations,” said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Dato Sri Alexander

Nanta Linggi while launching Segar@Mesra at PS Lanang Barat here yesterday.

Nanta thanked PDB for collaborating with his ministry to extend the well- received programme in the peninsular.

Ayam Permata is an initiative under Sarawak Economy Development Corporation (SEDC) to help local farmers penetrate the state’s halal market with products free of diseases, hormones or antibiotic injections while Q-Fish brand under Penes uses Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) technology to ensure freshness.

Meanwhile, Petronas vice president (Marketing) Ahmad Adly Alias said the Segar@Mesra initiative first mooted by the government resonates well with the company’s commitment to promote local businesses and entrepreneurs in line with its sustainability agenda.

“By working with only local suppliers and adopting farmer-to-consumer concept, Segar@Mesra is able to provide our customers cost competitiveness and quality products, while boosting livelihood of local farmers and fishermen through a shorter supply chain, in line with our promise of making our customers’ lives simpler and better,” he added.

Also present was state Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs director Dato Stanley Tan.
