One-day SOPB job fair offers 978 positions to locals

-

MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) held a one-day job fair at Miri Marriot Resort and Spa here yesterday.

Some 978 positions were offered to local job seekers and boost graduate employment, said SOPB Group CEO Paul Wong in his welcoming speech at the launching.

“We did not lay off anyone during the pandemic but many foreign workers have returned home. Therefore, we want to open this opportunity to locals with suitable qualification to slowly build up local talents and show we care for the community,” said Wong.

He further said that price of oil palm has rebounded and SOPB is making money but faces serious lack of manpower in plantations. Hiring locals is also in line with the government’s call to reduce unemployment.

GPS-SUPP candidate Datuk Sebastian Ting who is the incumbent for Piasau lauded SOPB for recruiting more locals.

“I would like to say that SOPB is a leading example of a company in Miri with this initiative,” said Ting.

SOPB is actively recruiting throughout Sarawak. For more information on vacancies, go to https://www.sop.com.my/career/current-vacancies/ or through Facebook at Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (Recruitment).

Every interviewee received a 500ml bottle of SOPB house brand Merris Pure Vegetable Oil which is high in natural Vitamin E, cholesterol free, trans fat free with relatively high smoke point.
