Kpg Limpaku Pinang in Limbang to have new RM6 million mosque

-

LIMBANG: The Muslim community in Kampung Limpaku Pinang here would have a new mosque, to be built in the middle of next year, said Bukit Kota incumbent Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.

He said he had submitted an application to the Chief Minister regarding the construction of the new mosque to replace the old one at the village.

“We have also asked the Public Works Department (JKR) to design a floating mosque – one built on water. The cost is about RM6 million. It is a part of the ‘Projek Rakyat’ (People’s Project) that has been approved by the Chief Minister,” he said when met at a village near the estuary of Limbang River on Friday.

Dr Abdul Rahman, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Bukit Kota, said the mosque would take 18 months to complete, and Muslims from Kampung Limpaku Pinang and nearby villages such as Kampung Bulantak and Kampung Lupak Rangas could also use the house of worship.

Kampung Limpaku Pinang is located about a 30-minute boat ride from downtown Limbang, and has 24-hour electricity and clean water supply.

Dr Abdul Rahman said the only basic facility left to be done for the village was road access.

“The state government, through the northern coastal highway project, already has the alignment for spur roads from Limbang to Kampung Limpaku Pinang.

“This project is now in the design stage and will commence work by the end of 2022. Upon completion, the village will be isolated no more. Other basic facilities and amenities available at the village include a community hall, which was completed last year at a cost of RM500,000.

“The now dilapidated wooden bridges at Kampung Limpaku Pinang, Kampung Bulantak, Kampung Seberang Kedai and other villages, will be replaced with concrete bridges, using allocation from the state government through Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA),” said Dr Abdul Rahman.

He added that all these developments indicated that the state government was very concerned about the people living in faraway places, such as the mouth of Limbang River here.
