Rh Gudan folk have something to say about whom to vote for in Mulu

-

MARUDI: Several voters from Rh Gudang (longhouse) here say they will vote for a candidate who has worked hard in the last five years serving the people.

Unyie Japar, 62, said she had voted 10 times in both state and general elections but her choice changes every election.

“I have voted for Barisan Nasional (BN) Datuk Jacob Dungau Sagan as Baram MP and also former Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Lihan Jok in past elections.

“This time, I will not be voting for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) because I have chosen to go with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), which I have worked with,” said Unyie.

She claimed that GPS candidate for Mulu, the incumbent Datuk Gerawat Gala, only visited her longhouse once since elected as their assemblyman in the last state election.

She said voters had the right to choose any candidates they trust, regardless of their party.

Unyie added that their longhouse was flooded a few months ago due to the poor drainage system. She thus called on the new assemblyman or Gerawat if he were re-elected to make proper drainage system for the longhouse.

Another voter, Enti Lait, in his 50s, said he would vote for a change this time.

Asked why, Enti said it was because some promises made by the incumbent were not delivered during the last five years.

“When he came here in the last state election, he said we could replace him if he were not doing a good job. Our longhouse (Rh Gudang) is still without water supply,” he said.

N 78 Mulu will see a fourcornered fight between the incumbent Datuk Gerawat Gala (GPS), Roland Engan (PKR), Son Radu (PSB) and Richard Ibuh (PBK).
