Election newcomer thanks GPS leadership for candidacy in Katibas

-

KAPIT:The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Katibas, Lidam Assan, expresses his gratitude to the coalition’s leadership for the trust given to him in this state election.

Lidam is the political secretary to the federal Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He replaces incumbent Dato Sri Ambrose Blikau Enturan, who has opted to retire and ‘give way to the young blood’.

“I will continue what is unfinished,” said Lidam in a statement.

“I will update and upgrade what the past leaders had done. “I wish to thank them (past leaders) for their contributions during their time in the DUN (State Legislative Assembly), and also to the people of this area.

“I look forward to serving the people, should I be given the opportunity to do so. I want to become the bridge between the government and the people.”

Meanwhile Nanta, who is Kapit MP, believed that Lidam would do well as an assemblyman.

“As my political secretary, Lidam has been very active in assisting in and coordinating many programmes on my behalf, especially the food aid distribution during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Since nomination on Dec 6, he has been going to the ground non-stop to meet the people and make himself know to them.

“I call upon the voters to support Lidam in this state election on Dec 18,” said Nanta.

For the record, Katibas, Pelagus and Bukit Goram are the state constituencies under the Kapit parliamentary area.

In the 2016 state election, Blikau won Katibas with a 3,053vote majority against his sole contender, Paren Nyawai from Democratic Action Party (DAP).

For the 12th state election next week, Lidam will be up against Sai Malaka from Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDS Baru), Yunus Basri from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), Munan Laja from Pakatan Harapan-Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PH-PKR), Robertson Mawa Luat from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), and independent candidate Tengku Gruna.
