Bomba rescues two men electrocut­ed on rooftop

BINTULU: Two men were injured due to electrocut­ion while fixing the roof of a building at Jalan Nyigu here yesterday morning.

In confirming the case, head of Zone 5 Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad said one of the victims, a 52-year old local suffered fourth degree burn while another worker, a 29-yearold Indonesian suffered minor injury.

“Firemen rushed to the scene in response to a distress call received at 9.42am,” he said.

On arrival at the scene and on noticing two injured men on the rooftop, the firemen called Sarawak Energy Bhd to cut off the power supply to enable them to commence the rescue operation, he said.

After the power supply had been cut off, the men used a ladder to reach the injured victims on the rooftop, he said.

“The operation took them about two hours to complete,” Kamarudin said.

After having brought down the victims to the ground, the firemen handed them over to medical officers who arrived in an ambulance.
