LOCAL DELICACY

Kampung Sikog villager Engelia Peteris shows a basket of ‘tekoyong’ or river snails and some jungle produce she collected yesterday from the river at her village near Kuching. The 36-year-old mother-of-four has been harvesting tekoyong since she was a child, and has been selling them to earn some income for over 14 years. According to her, these snails – when in season – can be found in abundance in her village’s river.
