Mydin welcomes KGC holders to ‘Meriah’ membership programme
KUCHING: Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) holders can now register for ‘Mydin Meriah’ membership card for free and enjoy various discounts and promotions.
This was announced by Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Wira Dr Ameer Ali Mydin yesterday, who said the inclusion should benefit 250,000 KGC holders in Sarawak.
“KGC holders only need to register as members at our service counters, either in Mydin Petra Jaya or Mydin Samariang, to enjoy various discounts and promotions.
“In addition, KGC holders who are registered as ‘Meriah’ members can enjoy special discounts on four different items every month,” he said when speaking at the ‘KGC Strategic Cooperation Ceremony’ and the official launch of the statelevel ‘Mydin Prihatin Syawal Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ programme at Mydin Petra Jaya here yesterday.
Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah officiated at the event, which also announced Mydin officially becoming a strategic partner of the ministry with regard to the KGC programme in Sarawak.
In her remarks, Fatimah commended Mydin for its participation as a KGC strategic partner and in this respect, she expressed hope that more other companies would follow suit.
“I hope that this strategic collaboration would not only last a certain period, but one that would last for a very long time,” she said.
It is informed that from now until April 3, KGC holders who have registered as ‘Meriah’ members can capitalise on the discounted prices of four promotional items – self-test kits at RM5.50 per set (selling price RM7.70); granulated sugar at RM1 per pack (selling price RM2.85); wheat flour at RM1 each (selling price RM2.30) and ‘kurma’ (dates) at RM7 (selling price RM10.90).
Meanwhile on ‘Mydin Prihatin Syawal CSR’, Dr Ameer said the supermarket chain had engaged 51 strategic supplier partners to collaborate in raising funds for and channel aid to those in need.
He said RM50,000 out of total donations of RM300,000 would be set aside for the needy folks in Sarawak.
“Since the programme’s inception four years ago, Mydin Prihatin CSR has been actively assisting those in need such as the ‘asnaf’ (those entitled under syariah to receive tithes) group including the orphans, the elderly folks, those with disabilities, as well as those adversely affected by the Covid19 pandemic,” he added.
