RMHC calls on Juma’ani, pledges to help underprivileged children and families
KUCHING: Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, president of Sarawak Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers (Sabati) received a courtesy call from the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia at the association’s premises here yesterday.
The courtesy call led by RMHC Malaysia general manager Mohd Nasri Mohd Nordin was a follow-up visit to provide enlightenment of RMHC Malaysia’s activities in Sarawak from 2019 to 2020, before the outbreak of the pandemic.
According to a statement from RMHC Malaysia, RMHC as parts of its corporate social responsibility has donated therapy equipment as well as given training and theraphy courses to the children of Sri Satok Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK), Datuk Amar Hajah Juma’ani Welfare Centre since 2019.
Seven children of the B40 family who were born with cleft lip and palate at Sibu Hospital were assisted to undergo corrective surgery at a private hospital with full sponsorship from RMHC Malaysia.
“RMHC Malaysia intends to help Sarawak-born children born with cleft lip and palate the opportunity to undergo corrective surgery with full sponsorship from RMHC Malaysia, in collaboration with Sabati,” it said.
Among other plans of RMHC Malaysia include holding collaborative programmes with hospitals, including private hospitals in Sarawak, to provide surgical facilities and temporary accommodation facilities near Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for family members of pediatric patients seeking treatment at SGH.
RMHC is also committed to deliver charity programmes that will benefit children of 18 years and below, including organising its annual “Back-toSchool Pack” programme.
Also present during the visit were RMHC Malaysia liaison officers Lyna Doll and William Chung and Sabati honorary treasurer Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaiden.
