Sheda Excellence Awards to highlight affordable housing developments in Sarawak
The Sarawak Housing And Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Excellence Awards 2022 is highlighting affordable housing developments in Sarawak.
Sheda Excellence Awards organising chairman Dato Alex Ting Kuang Kuo said this is in line with the Sarawak government’s long-term strategies for Sarawak’s housing development agenda.
“The focus on affordable housing aims to motivate and inspire developers to showcase creativity and innovation in order to bridge development gaps and transform affordable housing into much sought-after property; and simultaneously enabling more Sarawakians to own houses.
“We welcome submissions of exceptional development projects which showcase unconventional ideas and novel use of green technology, designed to spur community revitalisation, create dynamic public spaces and advance sustainability,” Ting told a press conference at Sheda premises yesterday during the launching of the awards.
According to the past Sheda president (2002-2004) and current Sheda advisor, eight categories for the awards are available this year which cover residential and commercial; landed and strata; and master plans.
The awards entries will be assessed by a panel of entrusted adjudicators comprising industry professionals, in line with Sheda’s commitment to a transparent, impartial and effective adjudication process.
“Both Sheda Excellence Awards and Annual Dinner have been on a hiatus for the last couple of years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so we are very excited to feature these two events in our calendar this year.
“The Sheda Excellence Awards and Annual Dinner will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Aug 6 and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has accepted our invitation to attend the event,” said Ting.
“Despite recent challenging times, many developers have continued to demonstrate talent and tenacity in bringing projects of calibre to fruition. The Sheda Excellence Awards is a platform aimed at acknowledging these efforts and recognising such attributes.
“It is also an opportunity to honour transformative development, forward-thinking design concepts, unconventional ideas and novel use of technology,” added Ting.
Other awards include ‘Property Man of the Year’ and Sheda CSR Award. The closing date for submission of entries is May 20.
