TBS: Jejak Asnaf 3.0 app an effective tool in identifying, helping needy Muslims

-

SIBU: The ‘Jejak Asnaf 3.0’ mobile application has proven to be effective in assisting Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) to track, identify and help the ‘asnaf’, namely those who are eligible for ‘zakat’ (tithe) under syariah.

TBS general manager Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie says this is in line with the core function of the app, which is to enable anyone to highlight the plight of the needy folks to the organisation, apart from helping it update its database of the ‘asnaf’ individuals, families and groups in Sarawak.

Moreover, he points out that app has help BTS tackle the issue of ‘unjustified viralling’.

“Thanks to Jejak Asnaf 3.0 app, these viralled (issues) have been reduced.

“If we want to help the asnaf, then use this app so that we can address and resolve the issues faced by the community, faster and more efficient.

“As long as you have a smartphone, you just download this app and follow whatever there is on the application menu. Wherever you go and see that someone in need of help, use this app,” he told reporters at the ‘Majlis Iftar Perdana Bersama Asnaf’ in Sibu Islamic Complex on Friday night.

In his remarks earlier, Abang Mohd Shibli pointed out that TBS needed to embark on this digital platform, given the constraints in manpower.

“Jejak Asnaf 3.0 is really intended to strengthen the relation between us and the people, as Sarawak is a vast state.

“Through this app, the public can forward their complaints and grievances, and also be involved in identifying those categorised as asnaf.

“There’s a questionnaire set to determine whether or not a person is eligible for TBS aid.

“This is the beauty of this ‘Jejak Asnaf’ app,” he said.

Later, Abang Mohd Shibli handed Hari Raya Aidilfitri assistance totalling RM25,800 to 46 individuals and also a local tahfiz centre.

In a press statement issued in connection with the Thursday night’s event, TBS said as at March 25 this year, it had distributed RM14.9 million to eligible asnaf through four main programmes: ‘Mengukuhkan Tradisi Keilmuan’ (Empowering the Tradition of Knowledge), ‘Membangunkan Institusi Islam’ (Development of Islamic Institution), ‘Memantapkan Kebajikan Ummah’ (Reinforcing the Welfare of the Ummah), and ‘Peningkatan Kemahiran Ummah’ (Skills Improvement of the Ummah).
