Foochow association Women’s wing holds AGM, Parents’ Day do

-

KAPIT: The Women’s Wing of Kapit Foochow Association held its annual general meeting and Parents’ Day celebration at a restaurant here recently.

Chairperson of the wing, Sia Leh Ching, was grateful that after two long years, the government has eased the Covid19 restrictions, allowing the association to hold its planned activities for this year.

Nevertheless, she advised members to continue wearing face mask as preventive measure against the spread of the highly contagious Covid-19 virus.

“The past two years since March 2020, the government enforced various restrictions amidst the widespread Covid19 pandemic. As a result of the Covid-19 Movement Control Order and standard operating procedures, the Women’s Wing was dormant,” said Sia.

“Now it is over as we enter the era of Covid-19 endemic. I appeal to all of you to be active and to arm yourself with energetic desire to participate in whatever activities organised by the Women’s Wing. Let us wake up to be actively involved in the activities organised for members’ participation,” she added.

On the Parents’ Day celebration, Sia said wing members had invited their parents to the event to appreciate their tireless efforts and sacrifices in raising their children.

“Parents’ Day celebration is to pay our filial respect to our parents. We are grateful to our parents because they sacrificed to bring us up; looking after us since birth till we settled down after marriage to set up own family.

“This is an occasion when we say ‘thank you’ to show our appreciation to our parents,” added Sia.

Vice chairperson Tiong Kiew Lan, secretary Ling Kok Hua, Kapit Foochow Association chairman Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo, deputy chairman Kapitan Ling Hung Pin, advisers Penghulu Wong Kie Ing, Ling Chok King and Wong Hwang Hyang were among those at the function.
