Members’ welfare the focus of SUPP Kapit for 2022-2024 term

-

KAPIT: The committee members of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kapit have been asked to focus on looking after the welfare of branch members and as well as organising activities for them to take part in.

In making the call, chairman Ling Thian Ing said with the lull in activities carried out over the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and movement control orders, it is now time for SUPP Kapit to once again be active on the ground.

“For this 2022-2024 term, our focus is to look after the social welfare of our members and to involve them in more activities.

“Hopefully, this will reignite the spirit of our members to be part and parcel of SUPP Kapit and if we succeed in this, we will achieve the objective of uniting members under the SUPP banner,” he said.

Ling said this in his address when chairing the branch committee’s first meeting at a restaurant here Wednesday evening.

During the meeting, Kong Chak Ling was appointed to head the branch’s social welfare subcommittee, to be assisted by Chia Weng Kwong.

Ling also informed that the branch is now in the process of reregistering all existing members for the purpose of issuing new party membership cards.

He also welcomed individuals aged 18 and above, who have yet to register with any political party, to join SUPP.

“SUPP is a multiracial party and we welcome all who are not affiliated with any other political party to join us. Registration is free as the fee will be paid by the branch,” he said.

The meeting meanwhile also proposed for the branch’s Women and Youth wings to jointly organise a Parents’ Day celebration early next month.
