BESarawak aims to expand corporate events market

-

KUCHING: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) hopes to increase the corporate meetings and incentives market share for Sarawak from 20 per cent to 40 per cent by 2024.

“With international borders reopened since April 4, destination readiness is one of three emphases on BESarawak’s blueprint for corporate meetings and corporate incentives and key in luring business events back to the state,” said BESarawak chief executive officer Amelia Roziman in a statement yesterday.

One of BESarawak’s strategies to develop Sarawak as a competitive corporate meetings and corporate incentives destination was through an interactive workshop held in Kuala Lumpur recently, where representatives of 50 international destination management companies from the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) took part.

Amelia said BESarawak’s collaboration with Matta served as a steady path towards securing more business events of this nature.

“We aim to increase our market share by developing corporate meetings and corporate incentives that are unique to Sarawak and delegates,” she said.

BESarawak’s collaboration with Matta was just the beginning to drive more sustainable, community-driven business events, she added.

Meanwhile, Matta Sarawak Chapter chairman Oscar Choo regarded corporate meetings and corporate incentive events as being effective in deepening the relationship with local communities without diminishing the cultural narrative of the destination.

“What Sarawak offers is an immersive experiential itinerary that touches on culture, adventure, nature, food and festivals. A good idea to make an impact on the community would be to include a corporate social responsibility activity as part of the itinerary.”

BESarawak offers an extensive range of support, services and incentives for corporate groups to organise a corporate meeting, incentive, or both. Email Crystal (crystal@ sarawakcb.com) or Gloria (gloria@sarawakcb.com) for more details.
