SRDC, master developer bring to fruition Buzz Station @ SibuJaya

- Peter Boon

SIBU: A Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC)-led corporate social responsibility programme to provide a platform for aspiring food operators in Sibu Jaya township has come to fruition.

Its chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said inspired by a group who sought his help with a creative plan, the council reached out to Sibu Jaya’s master developer Amcorp SibuJaya Sdn Bhd.

“The group has the idea but not enough capital. Furthermore, the absence of a viable plan may see aspiring food operators setting up business in unsuitable localities, causing traffic jams and challenges with food hygiene.

“As usual, the developer reacted positively. Together with their contractors and volunteers, they brought to life a new spot in Sibu Jaya called Buzz Station,” he said.

Located in front of Amcorp Sibu Jaya’s main office, the Buzz Station is essentially a fun food and beverage point.

“We wanted something fun and vibrant, and the developer did not disappoint,” Sempurai shared.

Two disused buses and a lot of hard work turned the empty space into a retro looking zone, with funky coloured light tubes and light balls adding to the vibes.

Scheduled to be opened by the SRDC chairman this Friday (May 20) with a performance by popular Iban singer Lucy M, the Buzz Station @ Sibu Jaya is also a springboard for other things.

Besides its potential as a festival ground, camping ground or just a cool place to hang out, it will also serve as a platform for local Sibu Jaya youths to hone creative talents in busking, cooking or managing F&B outlets.
