24 finalists to vie for titles at Gawai dinner
MIRI: Twenty-four finalists have been selected for four categories in a pageant to be held during Miri Division Gawai Dayak Celebration Dinner at Meritz Hotel on Saturday (May 21).
The organising spokesperson said some 1,000 guests are expected as tickets for the dinner were sold out.
There will be a live-streaming of the event through Dayak Association Miri’s (DAM) Facebook and YouTube social media platforms.
Six finalists were selected under each of the categories, namely Kumang, Dayung Sangon and Keligit Orang Ulu as well as a male category Keling/Belawan.
The champion for each of the three beauty categories will receive a RM1,500 cash prize and a scholarship of RM15,000 from Fajar International College.
First runner-up will get RM1,200 and RM10,000 Fajar scholarship while the second runner-up stands to receive RM1,000 and RM7,000 Fajar scholarship.
The top three winners will also get a trophy, sash, flower bouquet, hamper and certificate of participation.
Consolation prize winners will each receive RM500 in cash, RM3,000 Fajar scholarship, hamper and certificate of participation.
Meanwhile, the champion of Keling/Belawan category will receive RM1,300 and RM15,000 worth scholarship from Fajar.
The first runner-up will get RM1,000 and RM10,000 Fajar scholarship while second runnerup will get RM1,000 and RM7,000 Fajar scholarship.
All three will also receive a trophy, scarf, hamper and certificate of participation.
Consolation winners will receive RM500, RM7,000 Fajar scholarship, hamper and certificate of participation.
