Kuching to host regional sports psychology congress in Aug
KUCHING: The Sarawak Sports Psychology Association (SASPA), in collaboration with UiTM Kota Samarahan, Sarawak Sports Corporation and Institute of Teacher Education Batu Lintang, will be organising the 9th International Congress of Asian South Pacific Association of Sports Psychology (ASPASP) at the Borneo Convention Centre here from Aug 9 to 11.
The congress will bring together leading scholars, practitioners and policy makers with a shared interest in rigorous scientific research on sports and exercise psychology as well as biomechanics, data mining and machine learning in sports.
Organisers are urging those who are interested to register early to take advantage of the early bird offer before May 20.
The congress is the first international (face-to-face) sports conference in Malaysia to learn a globalised action in creating, mobilising, and driving solutions to enhance sports and exercise psychology through science, technology and innovation.
There will be hundreds of foreign and local presenters and delegates from the Asia-South Pacific region attending the event which has received further support from the Sports Unit of the Miri Education Divisional Office through Melissa Ogang who received a courtesy call from Assoc Prof Dr Garry Kuan (USM) who is the secretary general of ASPASP and Malaysian Sports Psychology Association and Dr Chin Ngien Siong (IPGKBL/ SASPA).
They also donated their sports psychology books, The Art of Applying Science in Sports and The Essential Sarawakian Mental Skills Training to the Sports Unit.
