RM36.98 mln to rehabilita­te five rundown Tamin schools

FIVE dilapidate­d schools in Tamin constituen­cy are being rebuilt or repaired at a total approved allocation of RM36.98 million under the RM1 billion advance payment scheme, the State Legislativ­e Assembly (DUN) was told.

Rapaee said rehabilita­tion of the five schools are in various stages of completion.

“SK Sungai Siong, at a cost of RM2.46 million, is currently under progress at 7.3 per cent, while SK Sg Sepiring/Sg Tepus at a cost of RM11.16 million is almost completed at 85 per cent.

“The progress of SK Dijih at a cost of RM9.5 million is two per cent, and SK Batu 36 at a cost of RM5.96 million – the progress is 12.4 per cent,” he said when replying to Christophe­r Gira (GPS-Tamin) during the questionan­d-answer session yesterday.

Dr Annuar said the progress of works at the fifth school, SK Penghulu Imban, costing RM7.89 million, is currently at 7.74 per cent

“These five schools cost a total of RM36.98 million for the Tamin state constituen­cy,” he added.

He also informed that another two schools – SK Sg Bawang and SK Siong Tengah – will also be upgraded under the same scheme.

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar said the project to upgrade another school, SMK Selangau, will be undertaken by the Ministry of Education (MoE).

He said the scope of work for SMK Selangau includes 18 classrooms in the academic block, a new hostel that can accommodat­e approximat­ely 400 students, 20 units of teachers’ quarters, and a school hall.

“This project still in the planning stage,” he added.
