SUT S’wak Campus kicks off nationwide Open Day series from May 21

-

KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) Sarawak Campus is conducting its series of nationwide Open Day starting from May 21.

The Open Day will give prospective students from all over the country to gain firsthand information on Australian education, financial assistance, campus facilities and more.

The series will kick off at Promenade Hotel in Bintulu on May 21 (10am to 4pm), followed by Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kota Kinabalu (May 22), The Wembley – A St Giles Hotel in Penang (May 28) and Grand Paragon Hotel in Johor Bahru (May 29), all from 12pm to 5pm.

In Sarawak, SUT Sarawak Campus will have its open days in Sibu at Tanahmas Hotel (June 11), Pullman Hotel in Miri (June 12), both from 10am to 4pm.

Open Day events will also be held in Kuching (June 11 and June 18), from 10am to 4pm, at Swinburne Sarawak Campus, Jalan Simpang Tiga.

The series is open to all, especially SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC school-leavers seeking affordable Australian tertiary education closer to home.

Students will have the opportunity to meet directly with Swinburne Sarawak’s academic staff from the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science; Faculty of Business, Design and Arts; and School of Foundation Studies to discover the extensive range of courses offered by the university.

They can also have a chat with education counsellors to learn more about courses, financial aid, scholarships and accommodation.

To alleviate the financial burden of students and their families, the university offers various scholarships for foundation, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. For example, top-achieving students who enrol in an undergraduate programme at Swinburne Sarawak and have achieved either 4As in their STPM/A Level, 7As in their UEC, a CGPA of 4.00 in their Swinburne Foundation studies or equivalent could be awarded the Pro-Chancellor Excellence Full Scholarship, which provides a 100 percent fee waiver.

Students who qualify should seize the opportunity and apply for this full scholarship as soon as possible.

For undergraduate students who do not meet the criteria for the Pro-Chancellor Excellence Full Scholarship, there are several other options available, including the DVC Academic Excellence Scholarship, UEC Academic Excellence Scholarship, Academic Progression Scholarship, Emerging Technology Award and so on.

In collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak, Swinburne Sarawak also offers the Yayasan Sarawak BP40 Bursary Scheme. This is a special bursary scheme for eligible Sarawakian Bumiputera students which allows them to enrol in their preferred programmes at foundation, diploma or degree levels with subsidised tuition fees.

For students under the BP40 scheme, the total tuition fees at Swinburne Sarawak throughout the duration of their studies are as low as tuition fees at any public universities (IPTA) in Malaysia.

When visiting the Open Day, students will be able to collect goody bags and also stand a chance to win exclusive Swinburne merchandise.

The university will be accepting on-the-spot applications at the Open Day events. Eligible students who enrol immediately into Swinburne Sarawak’s 2022 intakes will receive a special mystery gift.

For the purpose of on-the-spot applications, prospective students are advised to prepare the following relevant documents in PDF form saved in a USB: identification card (Malaysian students) or passport (international students), academic transcripts and certificates as well as English language proficiency test results (MUET, IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent qualification).

Eligible students applying for admission will receive a Letter of Offer on the same day.

For 2022, Swinburne Sarawak is also introducing new programmes, namely the Diploma of Accountancy, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Software and Bachelor of Quantity Surveying.
