Work together for smooth project delivery, says rep
SARIKEI: Implementing agencies, community leaders and village development and security committees (JKKK) have been urged to liaise and work together in order to ensure all approved government projects are carried out and delivered on time by the respective contractors.
Meradong assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, pointed this out after the handing over of two duly completed projects under the rural transformation programme (RTP) in his constituency recently.
“Implementing agencies, the longhouse chiefs and JKKK, as stakeholders, should help to monitor to ensure smooth delivery of the projects as these are for the benefit of villagers or longhouse residents,” Ding reiterated.
The projects with the cost of RM50,000 each involved the upgrading of access road to Rumah Ravica Francis in Skim B Meradong under the supervision of Sarikei Drainage and Irrigation Department and the concrete flooring work for the open space in front of Rumah Andam Wong, Sungai Lemayong which is under the supervision of Sarikei Division Public Works Department, Ding said.
He emphasised that the projects under the minor rural project fund clearly reflected the commitment and sincerity of the state government under Gabungan Party Sarawak (GPS) in looking after the livelihood of the people.
“The state government will continue to allocate fund under RTP to provide basic infrastructure or upgrading existing ones as long as the people appreciate its effort,” Ding said.
Among those present were representative from Meradong District Office, Ting Kai Siang; representative from Sarikei JKR Office, Paul Chieng; representative from Sarikei DID Office, Aneves Lang and local community leaders.
