SIBU: Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government II Michael Tiang proposes for the just-concluded ‘Jelajah Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat’ (ANMS) to be made an annual programme.

According to him, the roadshow was such a meaningful event in that it promoted awareness of personal health and hygiene to the local community, reminding them to practise a healthy lifestyle.

The ANMS 2022 for Sibu Division, which concluded yesterday, recorded a total of 219 individuals undergoing health screening throughout the two-day event that took place at Wisma Sanyan here.

“After visiting the booths here, I gained a lot of knowledge on health and hygiene.

“I really believe that such a roadshow should be run annually to promote awareness of personal health and hygiene among the public, and to remind them to practise a healthy lifestyle,” he said when met by reporters after performing the closing ceremony, which was also attended by Sibu Resident Wong Hee Sieng and Sibu Health officer Dr Teh Jo Hun.

In his speech earlier, Tiang said among the objectives of ANMS was to get Malaysians to stay healthy by embracing a healthy lifestyle.

In this respect, the Pelawan assemblyman regarded both physical and mental wellness as being ‘important’.

He also reminded all Sarawakians, and the Sibu folks in particular, to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP) to keep Covid-19 infections at bay.

Later, Tiang presented prizes to the winners of the colouring contest, the recycling challenge, the karaoke singing competition and the ‘Seven Steps-Proper Handwashing Rhythmic Challenge’.

These activities were run in connection with the ANMS 2022 here.
