RM22 mln to upgrade infrastructure in three Selangau schools
SIBU: A sum of RM22 million has been allocated to upgrade infrastructure of three dilapidated schools in Selangau, said Dr Annuar Rapaee.
According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, the three schools are SK Sepiring, SK Batu 36 and SK Dijih.
“Infrastructure of three dilapidated schools in Selangau are being upgraded with an allocation of RM22 million under the RM1 billion advance payment scheme.
“Works on the three schools are progressing at various stages of completion – SK Sepiring (RM11.16 million) which is fully completed; SK Batu 36 (RM7.3 million) which is 53.79 per cent completed; and SK Dijih (RM7.3 million) which is 28.41 per cent completed,” Dr Annuar told The Borneo Post yesterday.
The Nangka assemblyman said this was a brief detail of the projects under the RM1 billion advance payment scheme by the Sarawak government at the three schools.
“When completed, teachers and pupils in these three schools can expect a more conducive teaching and learning environment.
“The state government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has always placed strong emphasis on education,” he said.
He said this can be seen by the state government’s effort to build five residential international schools and setting up of the state’s own sovereign fund to realise Sarawak’s ambition of providing free tertiary education for all Sarawakians.
