WAIT FOR ME, PLEASE
Shafudin Mahmud, 42, waits for an elderly passenger to board his ‘Tuk Tuk’ at a village near Lingga town in Sri Aman. Inspired by the popular motorised trishaws sneaking in and out of nightmarish city traffic jams in Thailand, Shafudin spent RM500 on modifying his motorcycle into becoming a local version of that public transport. However, his intention is provide a very affordable service to the residents of the small town, especially the senior citizens. Shafudin charges only RM2 per passenger for a trip either to the town’s clinic or the ‘tamu’ (farmers market). Lingga is under the Batang Lupar parliamentary constituency.
