Chong tells Lo not to treat MPP post as ‘insurance’

KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Stampin incumbent Chong Chieng Jen has slammed Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Lo Khere Chiang as ‘irresponsible’ for stating that he would resign as Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman if he won the election.

Chong commented that such action was not a fair thing to do to the people and MPP taxpayers.

“It’s irresponsible. Don’t treat MPP post as an insurance policy for your career. If you are not competent, don’t do it,” he said at DAP’s daily press conference yesterday.

He said that if Lo wanted to resign, he should do it now and let someone who is “more knowledgeable and competent” do the job.
