PBDS president urges EC to ban GE15 ceramah in longhouses

-

MIRI: The Election Commission (EC) should consider banning political talks or ceramah for the 15th General Election (GE15) in longhouses to avoid conflict among its residents, said Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) president Bobby William.

“The cause of conflict in a longhouse is when the longhouse folks have different political understandings and are not aligned with their longhouse chief.

“Let’s make longhouses a politics-free zone,” said the Sibuti candidate in a statement yesterday.

He also suggested that political posters and flags be placed about 100 metres away from longhouses.

Bobby, meanwhile, pledged to contribute 40 per cent of his MP salary to set up a Sibuti Education Fund if he is elected this GE15.

This was a er fellow Sibuti candidate Zulhaidah Suboh of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) recent pledge to give 10 per cent of her MP salary to initiate a Tabung Anak Sibuti for welfare purposes.

Bobby and Zulhaidah are challenging Sibuti incumbent Lukanisman Awang Sauni of Gabungan Parti Sarawak this election.
