PH’s Chiew: S’gor apprenticeship has prepared me to be voice of Mirians
MIRI: Pakatan Harapan candidate for Miri constituency Chiew Choon Man says his five years spent apprenticing in Selangor under the wings of Selayang MP William Leong has prepared him for the task of representing Mirians in parliament.
He said although he is young, he has had the opportunity to a end to and resolve issues faced by the public.
“During the five-year period from 2017 to 2021, I was given the opportunity taking part in lawmaking, debates, and bringing the issues faced by the public to parliament.
“With that being said, I believe I am ready to the task of an MP representing Miri constituency,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.
The 31-year-old practising lawyer said he was also part of the team dra ing and contributing inputs to the anti-hopping law.
“I hope that I’ll be given the trust to bring the people’s mandate to parliament,” he added.
The newbie, who is replacing former Miri MP Dr Michael Teo this election, is facing Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s Jeffery Phang and Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s Datuk Lawrence Lai.
