Site approved for longhouse, village expansion in Bukit Kisi – Awg Tengah

SIBUTI: The state government will approve the applicatio­n for longhouse and village expansion in Bukit Kisi and the surroundin­g areas once the details have been finalised.

Speaking at a meet-the-people session at Rumah Jumat in Bukit Kisi, here Saturday, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said a 500acre site at Bukit Kisi has been approved for the purpose.

“I will ensure that these are approved, subject to investigat­ion by the Land and Survey Department,” he said in response to a request from longhouse chief Jumat Aji, who had voiced the aspiration­s of the longhouse folk in Bukit Kisi and surroundin­g areas and in the plantation area for official settlement recognitio­n by the government.

Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Developmen­t, also instructed the Land and Survey Department to conduct an investigat­ion for three other longhouses in Sibuti.

The actual boundaries and other issues must be finalised before land titles could be issued, he said.

Land and Survey Department deputy director Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood and its Miri superinten­dent Anthony Aboi were among those present at the function.

On another subject, Awang Tengah said he was looking forward to strong support from the people for Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) Sibuti candidate Lukanisman Awang Sauni to ensure victory for the incumbent.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport and Entreprene­ur Developmen­t Ripin Lamat and Lukanisman also spoke at the gathering.
